As one of the editors on the show, my job starts once I receive all the material from the shooting team. There is always plenty to do at the beginning of an edit. My first job is to view all of the footage that has been filmed which I do with my Edit Producer; there will be roughly 10 hours of tape shot for every one hour that makes it on to the screen. We have to view everything as there's no saying with Katie and Peter when we will come across those magic moments!
Once the best bits are decided upon it's a matter of cutting and stitching the scenes together. It's my job to make sure that one scene flows to another in the best possible way so even when there's a jump in time between stories you, the audience, can keep track and understand the plot.
We try to make the very best from each scene, and this will often include adding music and commentary. I have two weeks to edit a rough cut of the show before it is viewed by the Executive Producer and the Commissioner. Their changes will then be incorporated into the programme and I will have a further two weeks to complete the final edit.
It's a wonderful job and I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of the "Next Chapter" team. Even when I've got a long day ahead of me, with hours of footage to sieve through, I am reassured in the knowledge that there's never a dull moment watching the Price-Andre family in action!
